Steffen Land Quartet plays at the Jazz Station in Eugene

This One Set Wednesday spotlights saxophonist Steffan Land and his quartet for a tribute concert to American saxophonist Joe Henderson. Afterwards pianist Keith Brown will host an open jam session.

Steffen Land is a graduate student at UO working towards a master's degree in education to become a high school math teacher. He is also a passionate jazz saxophonist, having started playing the saxophone at age nine and continuing to the present. He has played with UO's jazz groups for five years and loves playing at local jams or gigs when he can. For his second performance as a leader, Steffen wants to pay tribute to the great Joe Henderson, an idol who has helped see past some of the barriers of improvisation.
