Portland-based drummer and band leader, Kirk Kalbfleisch, will be leading his quintet on May 17th at the 1905, featuring some of Portland's finest jazz musicians. Kirk and his talented group of friends will be playing a variety of modern jazz compositions in addition to arrangements of some of his favorite pop tunes. Come out to see how this band blends together these stylings for a special night of music.
Late Show - Cyrus Nabipoor - 10:00p $15
Trumpeter, composer and educator Cyrus Nabipoor splits his time between New Orleans and his hometown of Portland, OR. Nabipoor’s earnest & distinctive voice on the horn soars over a unique brand of crossover-jazz. He has been a featured artist at the PDX Jazz Fest, Cathedral Park Fest, Montavilla Jazz Fest, and New Orleans French Quarter Fest. In addition to writing for his own group, Nabipoor has had several works commissioned by Portland Jazz Composer’s Ensemble. His recently released, highly anticipated debut studio album 'In Lieu of Tears’ is a landmark in the development of Nabipoor's writing style as well as his trumpet playing.
