His debut album, The Wayward Traveler, features eight of his original works performed by his quartet.

Originally from Lincoln, NE, Krueger grew up in a musical family. His siblings are both music educators, and his parents both served as his music teacher in school at various times. His father is a jazz trumpeter, and introduced Paul to the music of Woody Shaw, Dizzy Gillespie, and the Mingus Big Band. Paul would go on to study with trumpeters Denny Schneider and Darryl White, before eventually completing his MM Degree in Jazz Studies at the University of Oregon.

In addition to his teaching duties at the University of Oregon, Krueger serves as the director of the University of Oregon Summer Jazz Improvisation Camp, the co-director of the Oregon Jazz Festival, and the director of the Day of Improvisation, a free one-day workshop for high school students in the state of Oregon.
