Clark College Jazz Band Spring Concert at the Gaiser Student Center
Clark College Jazz Band Spring Concert at the Gaiser Student Center located at Clark College campus in Vancouver, WA
They will be joined by The Battle Ground High School Jazz Band
The Clark College Jazz Band under the direction of Dr. Doug Harris presents their Spring Concert on Saturday, June 3, 7:30 pm in the Gaiser Student Center, Clark College Campus. Admission to the performance free and open to the public. Donations to the Clark College Music Department are welcome at the door.
“This has been a very busy spring quarter, and we're looking forward to sharing our music with the great crowd that always shows up for our concerts on June 3rd, and we are thrilled to be joined by the Advanced Jazz Band from Battleground High School, directed by Greg McKelvy. Battleground HS was the 2020 Sweepstakes winner of the Clark College Jazz Festival and just won the Basically Basie Jazz Festival in Kansas City...you don't want to miss them."
"On the program will be music by Tom Kubis, Dominic Spera, Bob Mintzer, Paul Baker and Matt Catingub, among others. If you were at our concert last spring, you heard the band play Catingub's chart Blues and the Abscessed Tooth, a tongue in cheek reference to Oliver Nelson classic Blues and the Abstract Truth. We will be playing the "sequel" to that chart, More Blues and the Abscessed Tooth, which is a true tour de force for the entire band. We will also be premiering one of my compositions (no title yet!) and announcing this year's winner of the Richard Inouye Jazz Performance Scholarship, which was founded by my predecessor. Hope to see you there!"
