An Evening of Classics - A fundraiser for Harrison Richter

  • Anandi vocalist
  • Harrison Richter piano

Harrison Richter is a jazz pianist/multi-instrumentalist, arranger, composer, and educator based in Portland, Oregon. He leads his own trio project, the North Star Trio, with fellow bandmates Arte Adams (bass) and Noah Mortola (drums). He has worked with such
talents as John Stowell, Nancy King, Ron Steen, and Shoshana Bean. Harrison is known for
being an active and supportive jazz community member. An up-and-coming young musician, Harrison Richter, suffered a seizure 2021. He has had surgery on his brain but has been slow to recover financially. Funds from this show will help him buy a car.

Anandi was raised on jazz under the influence of her father, Portland drummer Nick Gefroh, eventually ending up in Nova Scotia where she studied vocal jazz performance at St. Francis Xavier University. After a stint working at Rounder Records in Boston and singing her original songs around Boston and New York City she moved back to Portland after bearing ‘live’ witness to the 9/11 attacks in downtown New York City. After releasing three independent albums of original songs, she turned her attention back to jazz, singing classic standards, inspired by the likes of Sarah Vaughn, Nancy Wilson, and Carmen McCrae. Anandi has performed at venues like the legendary Jimmy Mack’s, the 1905, the Jack London Revue and the PDX Jazz Festival. Anandi performs regularly with acclaimed guitarist John Stowell and recorded her True To Love cd with pianist Randy Porter. Anandi is always collaborating with others; projects include PDX's All Female Jazz Quartet, Nica's Dream, the original acoustic trio Maiden Oregon and Retro Soul group AM Sister Soul. She also keeps a busy schedule teaching voice, guitar and piano.
