U of O Combos perform at the Jazz Station - Eugene

University of Oregon’s renowned program in jazz studies is one of the most exciting new jazz programs in the country, and boasts outstanding performing ensembles including multiple student combos. Tonight, a few of the small combos will perform short sets of music selected by the members, and practiced with the help of jazz faculty and grad students. There will be tons of musical variety, some original music, and comradery as the students support each other in this very open format.

Tonight's special guest artist is drummer Charlie Doggett who earned a BA in Music from the University of Oregon, where he studied with Charles Dowd and Gary Versace.

He has played with David Friesen, Darrell Grant, John Gross, Doc Holliday, David Frishberg, Gary Versace, Greg Coghen, John Stowell, Jerry Hahn, Randy Porter, Titos Sompa,Obo Addy, Rob Sheps,and the Eugene Symphony Orchestra. He has performed at British Columbia's du Maurier International Jazz Festival, the Medicine Hat Jazz Festival, Alberta, Canada, and the Mt. Hood Festival of Jazz, which was featured on Branford Marsalis's NPR Jazz Set Program.
