The Band, known as "The Octet," is a cooperative musical unit comprised of eight musical friends. The Octet is technically neither a big band nor a small group, but is sounds like both a big band and a small group. That is the uniqueness of The Octet, it's flexibility of sound.
The Octet plays original arrangements from various members of the band and the music covers the entire history of Jazz, from Duke Ellington to Charlie Parker to John Coltrane to Miles right up to some of today's top Jazz performers such as Pianist Benny Green and Bassist Derrick Hodge.
If you want to hear the combined sounds of a big band and small group, then you will hear plenty of that from The Octet.
