Faces of the Guitar is the second annual celebration of guitar presented by the Portland Guitar Society. The three-act showcase features an eclectic mix of notable West Coast musicians who will transport the audience from the flamenco music of Spain to bossa nova from Brazil to classical guitar from around the globe.
Among the performers:
Jazz, Flamenco, Brazilian bossa nova, and West African polyrhythms cross paths with Caminhos Cruzados. Caminhos Cruzados means "cross roads" or "paths crossed" in Portuguese and several disparate musical traditions do just that in this band. The trio features renowned jazz guitarist Dan Balmer, acoustic guitarist Nat Hulskamp, who has a background in flamenco and Middle Eastern music, internationally respected master percussionist from Ghana, Israel Annoh, and special guest vocalist Lamiae Naki from Morocco.
