The Reverb Brothers and Bare Bones Cafe are pleased to announce the seventh annual Boxing Day Benefit for Rose Haven, a day shelter and community center for women and children experiencing intersecting issues of poverty, homelessness and abuse. We are seeking donations of gently used winter gear such as jackets for women and children, hats and gloves, new underwear and new socks. Desperately needed items include rain gear, tarps and tents, backpacks, blankets and new travel size personal hygiene products. We also gratefully accept cash and check donations. Last year we collected two carloads of essential supplies including over 50 coats, gloves, warm hats, scarves and blankets. In addition we collected over 500 diapers, baby wipes, and menstrual hygiene products, along with nearly $1000 in cash donations. We hope to double those items this year. This year's event will also feature a raffle with prizes, baskets and gift certificates from many fabulous local businesses.

In days of yore, Boxing Day found the poorest of England’s classes gifted by the upper crust. Whatever crust you may be, we are inviting Portland to help out Rose Haven after the excesses of the Holiday have subsided and enjoy the good time music of the Reverb Brothers.

Rose Haven was designed to help women experiencing poverty and trauma in Portland. Founded in 1997, it provides essential services to women and children in need, offering advocacy, meals, showers, clothing, hygiene, mailbox services, plus creative and empowering activities and classes. Rose Haven welcomes women off the street, and with deep respect, addresses each one's needs by offering life-sustaining services. The staff and volunteers are passionate about the empowerment of the women they serve. Rose Haven receives no government funding and relies on donations from the community to continue this important work.

The Reverb Brothers bring on one of the widest and wildest musical repertoires in Portland, from the 1700s to 2019, songs that encompass Blues, Folk, Old-Timey, Rockabilly, Soul and Dixieland. Cascade Blues Association notes; “The Reverbs dig deep to find the original versions of many of the blues, rags, hokum, and standards they want to play…” The band may play “Papa Ooo Mow Mow,” “Witchi Tai To,” “Claudette,” and “Columbia Stockade Blues” in the same set.” The band tops it off with a dozen original songs recorded on the CD, Live at the White Eagle.

Donations accepted.
