Portland Jazz Composers Ensemble presents four of Portland’s most creative jazz pianists, Andrew Oliver, Kerry Politzer, Charlie Brown III, and Rebecca Sanborn each performing two original solo piano pieces recorded at North Portland's Peninsula Park. This online event includes pre-recorded video with the artists joining for Q&A via livestream from their homes after the pre-recorded portion.
Tickets are $10 @ http://bit.ly/PJCEPiano & free of charge for PJCE Sustainers. A private streaming link will be provided to ticketholders.
The musicians will play Andrew Oliver’s 1910 Pianola upright player piano which Oliver has modified by removing the player mechanism. It is a 66-key instrument, down from the full complement of 88 keys, with a surprisingly bright and resonant tone. The instrument is small and light enough to be lifted into the back of a truck, and wheeled on a dolly to wherever it is needed. The performance will be filmed, recorded, mixed and mastered by PJCE Executive Director Douglas Detrick to insure top quality audio. All musicians and technicians present at the recording session will wear masks and maintain social distance.
