Led by pianist/vocalist Kerry Politzer, the Portland-based Bossa PDX performs lovingly transcribed arrangements of Gilberto Gil, Roberto Menescal, Caetano Veloso, Chico Buarque, Joao Donato, and Tom Jobim compositions, among others. The group also plays a selection of upbeat Brazilian jazz tunes. Bossa PDX’s instrumentation includes vocals, piano, sax, flute, guitar, bass, and percussion. The Portland Mercury calls the group “pleasantly propulsive.”
Bossa PDX can be seen performing around Portland, Salem and Eugene at venues like The Jazz Station, Wilf’s, Christo’s, and others.
