Coming off the heels of pianist/composer Mathis Picard's new album Heat Of The Moment on La Reserve records, the Mathis Picard Trio (where Picard is joined by Parker McAllister on bass & Joe Dyson on bass) continue their national release tour with two special shows at The 1905 in Portland, OR, November 10th & 11th, 2023. Heat Of The Moment is a project rooted in Picard’s search for the sonic connections between healing and presence within a world facing many challenges including that of climate change & justice. Inviting both the trio and listener on a unique musical journey, this project paints a joyous portrait of the musical community that the pianist has built over a decade in The United States, whist bringing Picard's newest compositions to the forefront. Mathis Picard, born May 30th, 1995, is a French-Malagasy pianist, composer, producer, and bandleader who currently resides in New York City. Rooted in the tradition of live acoustic performance while incorporating the latest technology, Mathis creates his own musical style that is influenced by his multinational background. Mathis, who began playing the piano at the age of 3, was immediately passionate about music's healing quality and now focuses on sharing that passion globally. Mathis currently leads a solo project, a trio project and his orchestra, "The Sound Orchestra". Mathis has had the honor of working with artists such as Ron Carter, Lillias White, Wynton Marsalis, Christian McBride, Lee Ritenour, Daniel J Watts, DJ Kindness, Braxton Cook, Veronica Swift, Etienne Charles, Cyrille Aimee & more.
Early Show - Patrick Goličnik Trio - 5:30p

Patrick Goličnik is a young jazz bassist and composer who currently resides in Portland, OR. Despite his young age, Patrick has already had the opportunity to work with many local and international musical luminaries. Most recently, he had the honor of recording an album with Charles McPherson. He has also had the privilege of performing with musicians such as George Colligan, Alan Jones, Andrew Renfroe, Randy Porter, Rob Scheps, Chad Lefkowitz-Brown, Andrew Rathbun, and many others. He studied music on scholarship at Portland State University.
Late Show - Brigitta Teuscher - 11:30p

Teuscher is a contralto jazz vocalist. Her voice has been lauded as having a rare mix of unconventional warmth and power. She celebrates jazz evolution while incorporating contemporary elements to give traditional styles new legs. She was the Best Vocalist winner at the Teagarden Jazz Festival and has toured in Sweden, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, England, the Dominican Republic, Cuba, and Puerto Rico as a big band singer. Performance highlights include getting the first triple encore in the Saukraasti Jazz Festival’s history, being a featured vocalist at the National Theatre of Cuba, and performing at Festinord’s 50th Anniversary in Stockholm, Sweden. She most recently opened for Alfie Boe at Abravanel Hall.
