Marti Mendenhall Returns to the PDX Music Scene at the Manor Underground
Singer songwriter, Marti Mendenhall, returns to the Portland music scene at the Manor Underground on September 22nd. Mendenhall is well known as an outstanding entertainer, teaching each audience how to sing along and scat. Having been featured on KPTV, KMHD and Oregon Music News’ Coffeeshop Conversations, she is coming out of a two-year hiatus as a singer. Marti is also producing season 2 of the notable podcast, Marti’s Music Kitchen on Oregon Music News, which highlights the creative connection in between food and music with performers (Sister Mercy, Susannah Mars, Naomi LaViolette, Zia McCabe) and foodies (Chef Juan Zaragoza/Hotel deLuxe, Mark Bitterman/TheMeadow, Carly Jane/Love Like Salt).
This will be Mendenhall’s first show since her Father’s passing in February of 2017. “He was my number one fan,” says Mendenhall. “I know he would want me to continue with the band. He would have wanted me to throw a party!”
The party-esque show will be a fun, exciting blend of jazz standards, band originals, and a unique twist on a few pop/rock classics. Mendenhall’s new band has some stellar players. Portland Jazz Festival favorite, Matt Tabor on keys (Daryl Grant, Tony Starlight), Ross Garlow on bass (Director at Celebrity Cruise Lines, Rutgers University) and Tyson Stubelek on drums (Esperanza Spaulding, Joshua Redman).AtGraphic Jazz Manor Underground
