Charismatic and dynamic saxophonist Lakecia Benjamin who fuses traditional conceptions of Jazz, HipHop, and Soul, has just received 3 GRAMMY® Nominations for her latest album "Phoenix".
Benjamin has also been Voted by 2020 Downbeat Critics Poll Rising star Alto Saxophonist and Up and Coming Artist of the Year by the Jazz Journalists Association.
Her electric presence and fiery sax work which fuses traditional conceptions of Jazz, HipHop, and Soul, has seen her sharing stages with several legendary artists, including Stevie Wonder, Alicia Keys, and The Roots.
“Phoenix”, the latest and fourth studio album from the virtuosic saxophonist, has just received 3 GRAMMY® Nominations! The far-reaching new album finds the tour-de-force saxophonist in a poised and profoundly individual position alongside a curated all-star cast of musicians from Wayne Shorter to Dianne Reeves, Georgia Anne Muldrow to Patrice Rushen, and Sonia Sanchez to Angela Davis and is produced by the multi-GRAMMY® winner drummer and activist Terri Lyne Carrington.
Her previous album “Pursuance” is an inter-generational masterpiece that takes one on a journey through the lineage of the music with the works of John and Alice Coltrane.
