Gerry Rempel Jazz Syndicate plays at the Jazz Station in Eugene

Featuring original fusion and contemporary jazz compositions by Gerry Rempel and a selection of tunes by Chick Corea, Wayne Shorter and other artists. GERRY REMPEL (Guitars) As a session musician Gerry performs and records with a number of Jazz, Soul/Funk/Blues and Fusion bands in the Northwest including previous work in Los Angeles and Las Vegas. He performs regularly with Soulstruck, Anya Lecuyer, the Gerry Rempel Trio, and his own Fusion group the “Gerry Rempel Jazz Syndicate” and Hult Center and Shedd Institute Productions. He has received acclaim for numerous compositions written for Ballet Fantastique's Hult Center productions where he serves as a resident composer and frequent music director/ performer for several shows. Gerry also performed in several concerts in China with the U of O Gospel Choir in 2013. Gerry received a Masters degree in Jazz Studies from the University of Oregon in addition to a degree form the Music Institute of Technology in Los Angeles. GUS RUSSELL (piano) Gus Russell graduated from the University Of Oregon 1983 with a Bachelors degree in music. For the last 40 years he has been teaching and performing almost every musical style imaginable. He has been a featured artist in the Hinman Vineyard jazz series, The Wildish Theater, Art in The Vineyard and played at the Oregon Coast Jazz Party and the Florence Fest. He's also shared the stage with Cami Thomas, Holly Hofmann, David Larson, Calvin Orlando Smith. Gus is currently with the Gerry Rempel Jazz Syndicate, The Gus Russell Trio, BOSSANAIRE, SOU:LSTRUCK and COPACETIC; as well as being in demand as a sideman and recording session player on piano, organ and synth. SCOTT MITCHELL (Saxophones) Saxophonist and Composer Scott Mitchell has been involved in music his entire life. He studied at the California Institute of the Arts, where he worked, and studied under bassist Alphonso Johnson of Weather Report fame; guitarist Miroslav Tadic; producer/composer/saxophonist Paul Novros; and saxophonist/composer Vinny Golia. In 2010, he received his bachelor’s degree in Jazz Reeds. From free jazz to funk, second line to traditional samba, and even pop and rock, Scott has performed in a variety of styles with musicians of all walks of life and has been involved with an impressive number of bands as both sideman and leader since 2002. In 2009 and 2010, his compositions won the CalArts Jazz competition, and his music has been recorded at Capitol Records. RICK CARTER (Bass) Rick has been a member of the Eugene symphony for several years and performs with a number of local Eugene ensembles including the Gerry Rempel Jazz Syndicate.
