Ehud Asherie plays at Classic Pianos

EHUD ASHERIE is truly unique in his style and approach. He is comfortable with many genres, including stride, swing, bop, standards, ballads, Brazilian, African and European influences, and more. He has played with many great musicians including Clark Terry, Harry Allen, Peter Washington, Scott Hamilton, Roy Ayers, John Pizzarelli, Bucky Pizzarelli, Charles McPherson, Peter Bernstein, Vince Giordano, Ken Peplowski, Jane Monheit, Grant Stewart, and Wycliffe Gordon, among many others. His influences are many, including Louis Armstrong, Bud Powell, Fats Waller, James P. Johnson, Dick Hyman, Charlie Parker, Thelonious Monk, Eubie Blake, and lots more. Beginning at age 14, he often played throughout his teen years at New York's famed Small's Jazz Club in Greenwich Village. His playing can be heard on the 2010 Grammy Award-winning soundtrack of HBO’s Boardwalk EmpireThe New Yorker noted that Ehud Asherie is "a master of swing and stride". That's certainly true, but esteemed jazz writer Lew Shaw was even more accurate when he called Ehud a "jazz polymath".
