Cocktail Cats & Calysta Cheyenne are at the Jack London
With her warm and dynamic voice, Calysta Cheyenne has been singing the Great American Songbook and other jazz standards in Oregon venues since 2005. She grew up listening to and is heavily influenced by Ella Fitzgerald, Julie London, Peggy Lee and Billie Holiday. She has practiced Seth Riggs’ Speech Level Singing Technique for nearly 20 years with Ken Orsow in Ashland, Oregon, attended Berklee College of Music where she studied vocal jazz performance with NYC vocalist Alison Wedding, and recently completed a workshop with award-winning jazz vocalist and educator Alexis Cole.
Paul K Ward (piano) is a pianist, composer, and arranger with a profound respect for the craft of music making, and a deep love for the art of music education.
James Latham (double bass) – music and video producer, composer, and performer, Latham resides in Portland, Oregon where he manages and performs with local jazz and blues groups. He’s played a unique style of guitar and bass for nearly 40 years in New York, Boston, San Francisco, and now Portland.
Madison DeSantis – (drums) - Madison DeSantis started playing drums when he was 13, teaching himself on his older brothers set. In 2011 he joined CSU Chico’s Jazz X-press under Rocky Winslow. After graduating with a degree in musical composition and performance he joined the band BOGG in 2015, and specialized in the exploration of new and innovative ideas. He also toured the country, backing up Max Minardi on a 4-week trek. He has played in groups from punk to country, backing many singers and playing for musicals; but found his calling in the world of “jazz”. He has also created projects for solo drums and electronics under the moniker maditheboi.
