Portlander, trumpeter Bryant Allard obviously believes that there’s still a place in this world for lyrical, swinging, sensible, straight ahead jazz, and he gives us that on this show case for his outstanding sextet. Bryant balances his time between educator and director of the M.U.S.E. Instrumental programs for young musician’s (based here in Portland and in the bay area), and as a performer, writer, and arranger. One of his many different configurations of musicians is his newly formed sextet “Antidotes” featuring, Clay Giberson on piano, Ed Bennett on bass, drummer Adam Carlson, Saxophonist Catarina New, and Nat Caranto on alto. During the pandemic Bryant found a spiritual guidance by following many of Chick Corea’s projects which, in turn, inspired him to write many new compositions which will debut on Sunday, April 24th at the 1905. The music of this sextet is dedicated to the late, great, Chick Corea.

Bryant can also be seen playing around the Portland area with his afro cuban jazz group Picante as well as Nick Gefroh’s latin ensemble Palante. Bryant also has a touring group “The Powerhouse Quintet” that performs on the west coast.
