Ben Harris Quartet plays the Jazz Station - Eugene

Returning master's degree student Ben Harris ushers in the new school year with an evening focused on ECM and modern compositions.

Originally from San Jose, CA, Ben Harris concurrently serves as a Graduate Educator and Graduate student at the University of Oregon, where he previously earned his undergraduate degree in jazz studies. Ben has studied saxophone with Idit Shner and Steve Owen, as well as flute with Dr. Jacqueline Cordova-Arrington. Ben performs regularly in the Eugene/Springfield area as both a bandleader and a sideman, performing a variety of genres including jazz, salsa, hip hop and more. Additionally, Ben teaches private lessons and composes original music performed by various groups.

Eli Hansen is an upright and electric bassist, synthesist, and educator from Roseburg, Oregon. He is currently pursuing a master's degree in the Jazz Studies program at the University of Oregon and is an active member of the Pacific Northwest music scene. As a freelance musician, he has worked with artists such as Julia Logue, Neil Gregory Johnson, Joe Manis, Roger Woods, Golden Boy, and The Graduating Class. Additionally, he has been featured in groups such as the University of Oregon Wind Ensemble, the Oregon Jazz Ensemble, JazzArts Oregon, and the Eugene Concert Choir.

Nik Barber is a Drummer/Educator from Vancouver, WA. Since 2017, Nik has become highly connected within the Willamette Valley Music Scene. Nik is part of the dream-rock band Laundry, as well as the blues/rock band Inner Limits. Barber has recently performed with the Cherry Poppin’ Daddies and is also a part of Jazz Arts Oregon, the premier jazz small group at the University of Oregon. Nik recently earned a Bachelor’s of Music Degree from the University of Oregon’s Jazz Studies program, and is currently working to obtain his Master’s degree in Music from UO. Barber is also a Graduate Teaching Fellow under the direction of Paul Krueger.
