Acoustic Guitar Summit Christmas Returns To Music Mondays

Terry Robb, Mark Hanson, and Doug Smith will bring their Acoustic Guitar Summit Christmas back to the Lake Theater & Cafe for 2 nights on Dec 9th and Dec 10th.

The Acoustic Guitar Summit is made up of three of the country’s best fingerstyle guitarists. Two members, Doug Smith and Mark Hanson, won a Grammy in 2005 for their contributions to the Henry Mancini - Pink Guitar CD. The third member, Terry Robb, has been the perennial winner of the Cascade Blues Association's award as the top acoustic blues guitarist, and recently was inducted into the Oregon Music Hall of Fame.

The Summit’s music is heard on national television (Martha Stewart Living, American Idol), major films (Twister, Moll Flanders) and National Public Radio (Echoes and West Coast Live). In addtion, their music is regularly licensed for syndicated TV and radio broadcasts, and regional and national advertising campaigns.

Terry Robb has recorded over a dozen blues albums. He has played on and produced a half dozen John Fahey CDs, toured with famed rocker Steve Miller, and contributed a song to Robert Redford’s film “Horse Whisperer.” As a solo artist, he records for the Memphis blues label Yellow Dog Records.

Mark Hanson is internationally known for his numerous recordings, and for his 30+ guitar instruction manuals and DVDs. Four of his titles were named to the Top 100 acoustic music publications by Acoustic Guitar magazine, and one was recenty included in the book 50 Greatest Guitar Books. His music is heard on national TV and radio programs, including American Idol.

2006 national fingerpicking champion Doug Smith has recorded numerous solo CDs, and works with Mannheim Steamroller and Lion King and Tarzan film composer Mark Mancina. Doug and Mark recently arranged and recorded duets for Bert Bacharach and Leiber & Stoller tribute CDs, follow-ups to the Grammy-winning Mancini CD, which won in the Best Pop Instrumental Album category in 2005. All three AGS members have been featured individually and as a group on Oregon Public Broadcasting’s Oregon Art Beat program.

Together the Acoustic Guitar Summit performs a wide range of music, though of course this concert with focus on their renditions of the Christmas classics.
