Tony Starlight’s Christmas Shows are a Portland holiday tradition, re-creating the classic holiday TV shows of childhood when entertainers like Bing Crosby and Dean Martin spread the holiday cheer far and wide. Starting Tuesday, Dec. 3, Starlight will offer a dozen performances of his Vegas-style spoof of holiday performances that combines jazz parodies, comedy, and classic Christmas tunes.
It’s a Tony Starlight Christmas offers swinging jazz like “Let It Snow;” comedy routines where Joe Friday arrests Frosty the Snowman; impressions of Dean Martin, Bing Crosby, Jimmy Durante, Neil Diamond and others; duets with guest vocalist Barbara Ayars (backup singer with Bobby Vinton and Steve & Eydie); songs from holiday specials like The Grinch Who Stole Christmas and Scrooge; and appearances from The Snow Miser, The Heat Miser and Burgermeister Meisterburger from the Rankin/Bass animated specials. The show is both silly and sweet and puts the audience in the holiday spirit.
The events held at the Tony Starlight Showroom include either a three-course dinner or brunch and the show. In certain cases, show-only tickets may be available. Times and prices vary by each show; check the complete schedule at www.tonystarlight.com and engage with Starlight at @TSShowroom on Facebook and @TonyStarlight on Instagram.
