24 years ago, Oregon State Senator Margaret Carter and the late Senator Bill McCoy co-sponsored House Joint Memorial 10 which honors jazz master bassist, Leroy Vinnegar’s contribution to cultural life in Oregon; May 1st was declared Leroy Vinnegar Day. Mr. Vinnegar, Mel Brown, and Jof Lee made history that morning in 1995 as the first trio ever to perform in the Oregon State Senate chamber.

Wednesday evening, May 1, 2019 join Leroy's good friends and former bandmates at Teutonic Wines to spin some of his early recordings on vinyl and raise a toast to his legacy.

This year’s Leroy Vinnegar Day celebration will be in support of the 39th Annual Cathedral Park Jazz Festival.
