Montavilla Jazz Presents Zyanna Melada Quartet at the 1905
Two Shows - 6:30p and 8:30p
Montavilla Jazz began as a neighborhood project founded by two jazz musicians, whose collective vision was to build an audience for jazz in their community by putting on a festival that would attract local artists of the highest distinction and excite the most sophisticated jazz fans, and in turn enhance and enrich the lives of Montavilla residents. From its ambitious beginnings, the project continues to grow over a decade of successful seasons. Montavilla is presenting and sponsoring artist, Zyanna Melada: Anna Meyer “Zyanna” is a Portland and Los Angeles jazz and contemporary arranger, vocalist and bassist. She recently was featured on two of George Colligan’s recent projects “The Phyllis Wheatley Project” (2023) & “You’ll Hear it” (2024). Zyanna briefly lived in Los Angeles and collaborated with guitarist Lawrence Gilliam at the Greenway Amphitheater and at The Mint as part of Astral Voyage - an international funk & soul group. She released her first solo EP project “Soul Angel” (2023) featuring local Los Angeles artists. In August of 2023, she became a vocalist with the grammy winning Los Angeles Vocal Ensemble “Tonality”. Zyanna became bandleader for her trio in 2024 and has found success as a jazz/contemporary electric bassist. Her trio is a blend of is R&B classics, Jazz Standards and Originals with influences of hip hop, spoken word & experimental art rock.
