Two Shows - 6:30p and 8:30p

The 2026 Mt. Hood Jazz Festival is proud to present The Superjazzers in collaboration with The 1905. Visit www.mhcc.edu/jazzfestival and follow us on social media for details on our full lineup! SuperJazzers is a group of four like-minded musicians from Portland, Oregon, blending diverse influences from artists like Ornette Coleman, Elliott Smith, Keith Jarrett, Herbie Hancock, The Beatles, Ravel and John Coltrane. Saxophonist Tim Willcox, pianist David Goldblatt, bassist Bill Athens, and drummer Charlie Doggett create a rich, dynamic sound that fuses classic jazz traditions with modern improvisation. Their decade-long collaboration has resulted in a compelling mix of emotional depth and a large arsenal of original compositions, appealing to fans of both modern jazz, classical and popular music.

Late Show - Cheryl Alex and Friends - $20 - 10:15p

One of the best kept secrets of the Northwest jazz scene, flutist/vocalist/pianist/composer , Cheryl Alex has been central among the region’s jazz community for decades, appearing regularly with luminaries such as Nancy King, Randy Porter, Leroy Vinegar, Jerry Hahn among others. Cheryl’s versatility shows a masterful command of her instruments (concert C flute, alto flute, vocals and piano.) Influenced in her early years by the music of Herbie Mann, Eric Dolphy, Roland Kirk, Ella Fitzgerald and classical music, Cheryl’s original compositions reflect a deep harmonic sense with melodies and Latin influences. With the release of her CD “Take My Time” Oregonian critic, Lynn Darrick wrote “Your wish for a different jazz voice will also be satisfied, with a sound more akin to Joni Mitchell than Sarah Vaughan.” She has recorded with several Northwest artists over the years and also maintains a solid teaching schedule offering instruction in flute, piano and voice. Cheryl regularly taught and performed with the late jazz vocalist, extraordinaire Nancy King. Cheryl’s quartet features Cheryl Alex, flutes & vocals; Dan Balmer guitar; Ross Garlow, bass; Brent Follis, drums;
