Portland based musician, educator & composer, Michelle Medler is celebrating the release of her sophomore solo album, “Pink Sky.” With guest LaRhonda Steele bringing her powerful vocals to Michelle’s quartet and two guest big bands open- ing the show; this will be a fun evening!

Groove oriented original music to soothe and awaken the soul. Each song tells a story animated by this commanding group of musicians. Began when the Portland Youth Jazz Orchestra and the MUSE Band program paired up to support each other with shared rehearsal space. This local, community based group has performed at many different venues around Portland including Jimmy Mak’s Jazz Club, The Jack London, Summer Parks Concerts, Oregon Duck Football games, and fundraisers for local charities. The band, created in 2007, is conducted by local jazz trumpeter and Director of M.U.S.E, Bryant Allard. They play a variety of music from early swing to modern swing, Bossa Nova, Latin Jazz, and Latin Rock.

The Portland Youth Jazz Orchestra began in 2001, since then many alumni have returned to Portland and continue to want to challenge themselves in a big band setting as young professional musicians. The Vanguard band became official in 2017, with alumni reaching into their 30’s mixed with a few extraordinary high school students! This is an excellent band, playing impressive music! pyjo.com
