Goldings / Bernstein / Stewart Organ Group perform at the Jack London

Two Shows - 7:30p and 10:00p

In the mid 1990s, The New York Times described Larry Goldings, Peter Bernstein, and Bill Stewart as “the best organ trio of the last decade.” The trio, which has now been together for over 30 years, has been recognized for charting new ground, with its synergistic playing, and thoughtful music. They have over a dozen recordings, all of which display their distinctive sound, whether exploring the depths of jazz standards, or playing their own original compositions.

Of their newest offering, Toy Tunes (Pirouet), Downbeat said, “The whole album subtly subverts organ-trio cliches, offering not chicken-shack party stomps but instead some hip after-hours atmospherics…4 stars”

Also, the Mel Brown B3 Organ Trio

"If this band appeared in New York City, they'd be a sensation!" That was guitar great--and one-time Mel Brown bandmate--George Benson's reaction after hearing the Mel Brown B-3 Organ Group open for him back in September, 2003 at Oregon's prestigious Britt Festival.  Goldings/Bernstein/Stewart Organ Trio w/ Mel Brown

Soul’d Out Productions (SOP) was founded in the Pacific NW in 2008 in order to bring a diversity in programming and cultural curation that was sorely lacking. Additionally, SOP has produced thousands of shows and events from LA to Vancouver BC, from Washington DC to NYC and founded the Jazz Fest by Nite series in New Orleans that ran from 2009 – 2019. As producer of the Soul’d Out Festival for 10 years and operator of several successful venues in Portland, SOP has helped evolve the NW musical landscape by changing who gets a ‘seat at the table’ in terms of community building and engagement through the arts.
