
David Morgenroth performs at the Jazz Station in Eugene
This evening will feature an eclectic mixture of tunes with focus on guitarist and bassist songwriters.

David Morgenroth “provides evidence of a style shaped by intelligence, clarity of conception, and even an elegance that shimmers,” writes Bill Donaldson of Jazz News. “He possesses both invention and originality of sound in abundance.” Morgenroth has performed across the United States, Europe, Asia, and South America with such luminaries as Micheal Brecker, Buddy DeFranco, Benny Golson, Lionel Hampton, Freddie Hubbard, Gary Peacock, Toots Thielemans, and Joe Williams. David has released four recordings under his own name, collaborating with notables like Chris Potter and Bob Sheppard (saxophones), Drew Gress and Chris Colangelo (bass), and Joe LaBarbera (drums). He and his wife, Barbara Koostra, live in Eugene.
Jake Pavlak is a Eugene based guitarist, songwriter, producer and teacher. He holds a degree in guitar performance from the University of Oregon where he also spent 10 years on the guitar faculty. His current musical projects include buckhorn, ferns, heavenly oceans and the Don Latarski group. He still actively teaches guitar in the Eugene area.
Sean Peterson is a double bassist and composer based in Eugene, Oregon. He specializes in jazz, but also performs classical, salsa, folk, and other genres. He performs regularly with Halie Loren, The Emerald City Jazz Kings, Laura Kemp, Torrey Newhart, Carl Woideck, and as a member of the Shedd Theatricals orchestra. He has performed with classical groups such as Microphilharmonic, Oregon Bach Collegium, Cascadia Chamber Opera, and Central Chamber Orchestra, including works like the Mozart Requiem and Handel’s Messiah. Previously he performed regularly with Tony Glausi, Eleven Eyes, Taarka, the Oregon Composers’ Big Band, Beta Collide, John Shipe, the Oregon Jazz Ensemble, Azuquita, and Paul Biondi. In 2015 he released his first album as a leader, Let It Show, which he composed, arranged, recorded, and mixed. Sean does it for the love.
Dave Averre began studying drums at the age of five and played his first professional job at fifteen. As a young student, Dave commuted to New York City, studying with the prominent drummers: Joe Cusatis, Charli Persip, Jim Chapin, Michael Carvin and Joe LaBarbara. After college, Dave moved to NYC and began making inroads into the jazz scene, doing performances and studio work on the east coast in upstate New York and Connecticut, and Norway where he performed steadily throughout Scandinavia for two years. After returning to the States, he completed a degree in Music Education from The College of New Jersey and in 1996 moved to the Northwest. In 2010 he was inducted into The Oregon Jazz Society Hall of Fame with the long-standing group Tall Jazz. Dave has performed with: Mose Allison, Jack DeJohnette, John Surman, Karin Krog, Arild Anderson, Rodka Tonnif, Eddie Fisher, Armen Donelian, Bob Bowman, John Stowell, Carl Saunders, Randy Porter and many others. Dave currently performs and teaches in the Portland Metropolitan area.
