Andy Stokes persents "The Sound of Stax Records" at the Jack London

Andy Stokes first topped the R&B charts in 2018 with the breakout hit Best Day Ever, launching a new era for independent soul music. He followed it in 2019 with We On Da Flo featuring Snoop Dogg and produced by DJ Battlecat, blending classic R&B with West Coast G-funk. In 2023, Andy released I Don’t Give A Damn, a powerful and deeply emotional ballad that became his third Top 30 hit in four years—an extraordinary achievement for an independent artist.

This one-night-only Stax Records set highlights the deep soul roots that have shaped Andy’s sound, channeling the raw emotion, groove, and spirit of the legendary Memphis label while seamlessly blending in his own chart-topping originals.

Andy’s journey is as compelling as his music. Once homeless, he has built a catalog rooted in honesty, resilience, and timeless soul, earning a devoted global following along the way. His most recent release, No Better, is an upbeat celebration of true connection and love. The track reunites Andy with singer-songwriter-producer Ervan Rushing (former lead singer of Portland’s The U-Crew) and delivers undeniable dance-floor energy.

With a career spanning more than three decades, Andy Stokes has become a cornerstone of Pacific Northwest soul and R&B. Known as the “Northwest King of Soul Music,” the two-time Music Hall of Fame inductee continues to deliver silky-smooth vocals, gritty emotion, and unforgettable live performances that leave audiences breathless.

Soul’d Out Productions (SOP) was founded in the Pacific NW in 2008 in order to bring a diversity in programming and cultural curation that was sorely lacking. Additionally, SOP has produced thousands of shows and events from LA to Vancouver BC, from Washington DC to NYC and founded the Jazz Fest by Nite series in New Orleans that ran from 2009 – 2019. As producer of the Soul’d Out Festival for 10 years and operator of several successful venues in Portland, SOP has helped evolve the NW musical landscape by changing who gets a ‘seat at the table’ in terms of community building and engagement through the arts.
